Sepang

Specifically built for speed and exciting racing, the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia is one of the world's best. The 2,300-acre site cost around £50m to construct and was built in just 14 months, setting the standard for race circuits worldwide. While other F1 tracks measure 15 meters in width, the Sepang F1 Circuit starts at a minimum of 16 meters and extends to 22 meters at demanding turns. The circuit length is 5.54 km and has a main straight which is 920meters long allowing sport bike riders to reach speeds in excess of 250kph. The track is built using a specially formulated bitumen compound, which is smooth, grippy and not too abrasive. This makes it an excellent place to venture onto the track for the first time, once your confidence builds it just gets better. The 500cc motorcycle lap record is held by Kenny Roberts JR with a time of 2.06 but F1 cars can run 1.30 (that's feckin fast by the way). The circuit boasts generous run off areas, excellent marshaling and a good level of organisation making it the safest circuit in Malaysia by far. There are many hotels close to the circuit. The Pan Pacific offers members excellent B&B rates of RM240++ and extends a warm welcome to us. Their house band keep us entertained while we swap tall stories in the bar safe in the knowledge that our bikes are being look after by the hotel security. For those on a tighter budget the Concorde offers a more basic accommodation at an attractive B&B rate of RM100++.
